According to a nationwide survey of parents conducted by Huntington Learning Center, the number one stressor for families this academic year is the potential for learning loss due to changing school formats.
Over 35% of parents surveyed noted learning loss as a major concern, with decreased social and emotional support their children will experience as a secondary concern if they are forced to learn remotely once again.
Huntington Learning Center remains the top revenue-producing tutoring and test prep franchise, even in the ongoing struggle that is the COVID-19 pandemic. Last year, franchisees were able to return to pre-pandemic revenues as quickly as 6 months into the pandemic regardless of school closures. Programs like HuntingtonHelpsLIVE, Huntington Study Hall, and Academic Performance Coach were created to be utilized in hybrid tutoring programs uniquely designed for every student and enabled Huntington’s franchisees to meet profitability goals disrupted by the pandemic as early as August 2020.
This accomplishment is largely due to the new, tech-forward offerings Huntington continues to roll out to fulfill its mission to give every student the best education possible. To date, Huntington’s certified teachers have executed over 750,000 hours of modernized remote and hybrid learning across the country; the success of which has earned Huntington multiple awards including but not limited to a Gold American Business Award for a PK-12 Learning Solution and to be the only tutoring franchise named to Training Magazine’s Top 100 list.
The demand for learning support has never been greater. According to McKinsey & Company, an ‘i-Ready In School Assessment’ of over 1.6 million U.S. elementary school students reveals the impact of disrupted learning due to the pandemic has left students (on average) 5 months behind in reading and 4 months behind in math.
At Huntington, K-12 students engaging in subject tutoring have nearly doubled, at an increase of 90% over in-center-only instruction. The average time spent engaging in hybrid subject tutoring programs per student jumped from 32 to 61 hours in the past 12 months. Students utilizing hybrid test prep programs have increased their tutoring hours by 39%, up from 42 to 59 hours compared to in-center only test prep.
Increased program engagement is benefitting franchisees and families alike. The pillar of which is based on hybrid learning options that allow students to participate in more tutoring each week with the ability to continue their learning from home in addition to in-person tutoring at their local center.
Dr. Ray Huntington, co-founder and chairman of Huntington Learning Center, shared that students utilizing hybrid tutoring are seeing reading scores that are 6% higher than in-center scores, and hybrid tutoring math scores are 37% higher compared to those only studying in-center.
