Huntington Learning Center Announces Reduction in Cost to Open its Tutoring Franchise

Tutoring franchise with highest unit revenue and low investment offers community-based business

(December 3, 2013, Oradell, N.J.)Huntington Learning Center, a 36-year old national tutoring franchisor with over 250 units in 40 states, today announces a major change in its initial investment requirement for new franchisees. The total up-front investment starts at less than $100,000, including curricula, furniture, equipment, and other important start-up expenses, including all franchisor fees.

Making this opportunity even more remarkable is that Huntington’s average franchise revenue exceeds that of all other tutoring franchise competitors. Adding to this low investment is the opportunity for new franchisees to begin on a part-time basis.

The Education Industry Association estimates the size of the K-12 tutoring and test prep market to be as high as $7 billion. Despite this size, there are only about 15 national or regional companies recognized by leading corporate investment advisors, only 3 of which are franchisors. Huntington is one of the top five largest companies in this field, with one of the strongest balance sheets among all its competitors. AnythingResearch.com ranks tutoring and exam prep #7 on its list of “fastest growing industries hospitable to small businesses.”

With the acceptance of the much-discussed Common Core State Standards by 45 states, more parents will seek tutoring services as they find themselves unable to cope with changed curricula and increasing testing demands. Huntington’s curricula have long been designed to focus on the same criteria espoused by CCSS, namely basic skill orientation with a rigorous testing program provided in a clear, consistent manner to students and parents.

High demand for college continues the fierce competition among high school students to achieve the highest SAT* score possible. Huntington students routinely average increase more than 200 points on the SAT, with similar ACT* performance. With more than twice as many students taking Advanced Placement exams as in 2002, preparation for these exams represents a major growth opportunity for test prep organizations, such as Huntington.
