How Big Is The Demand?

In the wake of the pandemic, millions of students are behind and the demand for tutoring is skyrocketing

The COVID-19 pandemic created a crisis in education that our society has never experienced before. The closure of schools and the transition to virtual learning have impacted millions of students in a negative way. Students of all ages are behind – and parents are understandably worried.

According to the Education Trust, nine out of 10 parents say that they’re worried about their children falling behind due to coronavirus-related school closures, and eight out of 10 say that their children are experiencing heightened stress levels.

Our kids need to catch up

News outlets in California, Texas, Florida and other states are reporting that students are falling through the cracks, scores are dropping, levels of engagement have never been lower, and teachers are stressed and struggling with the new normal.

USA Today published an article entitled, “Students are falling behind in online school. Where’s the COVID-19 ‘disaster plan’ to catch them up?” which details just how dire the situation is across the country.

“Parents are afraid their kids are falling behind, and they don’t know what the solution is,” the outlet reports. “They’re looking for leadership. They’re looking for help.”

For thousands of students every day, Huntington Learning Center is the “disaster plan to catch them up,” and we couldn’t be more prepared to take this crisis head on.

What makes Huntington Learning Center so effective?

Huntington Learning Center is committed to empowering students to unlock their full potential. Whether it’s K-12 tutoring or test prep for college entrance exams or state standardized tests, we’re able to tailor personalized plans that accelerates students’ abilities and improves their scores by focusing on individual student needs. In fact, the very first thing that we do is give each student an Academic Evaluation that pinpoints academic strengths and weaknesses, and from there, we determine the best course of action.

This alone makes us unique in an industry that tends to deliver a one-size-fits-all approach. At Huntington Learning Center, we treat every student like an individual.

“We could share stories for hours and hours about how we’ve changed students’ lives,” says Carol Lovallo, Director of Educational Development at Huntington Learning Center. “We take a diagnostic approach with every student so that we understand their strengths and weaknesses, and then we come up with a highly targeted plan to get them where they need to be.”

We’re constantly researching curriculum to ensure that we’re on the cutting edge. We’re always investing significant amounts of money and resources into new training and new technology to ensure that our franchise owners are able to deliver the results their students deserve.”

“We have so many examples of our impact on our students and their families,” says Brian Telford, Huntington Learning Center Franchisee in Nashville, TN. “We had a student who had a nine-point increase in her ACT score, and that completely changed her future. She has Ivy League schools reaching out to her now. We recently had a mom come to us with twin daughters in the second grade. They really struggled with reading. It was a battle in their house to get them to read. I met with that mom three months after she started with us and she said, ‘Reading is now so enjoyable in our household.’ We’re not alone in this. Every franchisee has countless examples of the impact they’re having as well. It’s a powerful thing to be a part of.”
