For Bisma Srivastava, opening Huntington Learning Center of Harrisburg represents more than a new professional chapter. It is a return to a lifelong passion for education and a way to give back to the community her family has proudly called home for nearly two decades.
Originally from India, Bisma has lived in the United States for more than 25 years and has been part of the Central Pennsylvania community since 2005. Throughout her journey, education has remained at the center of both her career and her personal life.
A Career Built on Learning and Leadership
Bisma began her professional journey as an information technology teacher before moving to the United States in 2001. After initially living in Michigan, she and her husband, Alok, eventually settled in Pennsylvania, where she built a successful career in technology consulting.
Working with several state agencies in the Harrisburg area, she developed extensive experience in leadership, systems management, and service delivery. Most recently, she served as a Team Lead consulting at PennDOT, overseeing cross-functional teams responsible for enterprise applications and software services.
While her career progressed in technology, her connection to education never faded.
“Teaching has always been close to my heart,” Bisma shared. “Helping students build confidence through learning has always been incredibly meaningful to me.”
A Personal Connection to Huntington
For Bisma and her family, Huntington Learning Center was already a trusted resource long before she became a franchise owner.
Her older son participated in Huntington’s programs and experienced meaningful academic growth through the personalized instruction.
“Our older son benefited tremendously from Huntington,” she said. “Seeing that transformation firsthand gave us deep trust in the Huntington model and its ability to truly change a student’s academic trajectory.”
Today, her son is a senior at Purdue University pursuing Aerospace Engineering, while her younger son is currently a junior in high school.
Watching her children grow through strong academic foundations reinforced Bisma’s belief in the power of education and inspired her decision to bring Huntington’s programs to more families in her community.
Building a Resource for the Harrisburg Community
Bisma officially acquired Huntington Learning Center of Harrisburg on January 26, 2026. Her immediate focus is helping families understand the academic support available to them.
“There is tremendous potential in the Harrisburg area to support students with academic skill building and test preparation,” she said. “Many families may not fully understand the range of services available to them, and we want to ensure parents know they have a place to turn when their child needs extra support.”
She hopes the center becomes a trusted academic partner for families, helping students strengthen foundational skills, prepare for important exams, and develop stronger study habits.
A Vision Focused on Student Confidence
Looking ahead, Bisma hopes the Harrisburg center becomes deeply integrated into the community by building relationships with local schools, PTAs, and organizations.
For her, the mission goes beyond improving grades.
“Our goal is to help students build confidence that will serve them throughout their lives,” she said. “When students receive the right level of personalized support, they close learning gaps, gain confidence, and unlock future opportunities.”
Through Huntington Learning Center of Harrisburg, Bisma hopes to create an environment where students feel supported, encouraged, and empowered to reach their full potential.
Her vision is simple. Empower students, support families, and contribute meaningfully to the academic success of the Harrisburg community.
